SUFFERING

What arises when Impermanence is met with refusal. Not pain. Not grief. Not illness. These occur in Form whether or not The Self is present. Suffering began with The Fear: the pressure of what could not be held, felt as personal before there was a person to carry it. The Mind built The Self to carry it. The Grip of Attachment maintains it, contracting around Form, Story, and Identity. The Narrator supplies the account that makes the holding appear warranted. The Ego defends it. Suffering is what The Illusion of Separation is from inside, and what it builds outside. Every Story, Myth, Delusion, and Role is Suffering given structure. The System is that structure rendered collective, The Machine its amplification. Circumstance was never its cause and cannot be its end. It ends where The Self ends. Sensation remains.
